Well with the first weeks in the books, here are a few observations. 1. ASA is a dying breed, Premier is taking away a lot of talent. The amount of quality teams at 16 & 18 is way down!
2. Anyone with a cereal box certification can be an umpire. Saw more bad calls this weekend more umpires out of position and half dont have a clue about the rules.
3. Everyone now has a team Seems like there are more and more new organizations popping up started by dads whos kids couldn't cut it on a better team.

I don't think ASA is a dying breed but they will have to make some changes in the future. PGF does a way better job of getting out of state draw, they offer 5 game guarantees, more of a standard set in terms of operations of tournaments, I do like that once you earn a bid you can't play in another qualifier till nationals (definitely cuts down on teams altering rosters and stealing multiple bids through out the year), not running national qualifiers on the same weekends with other national qualifiers, absolutely stupid in my opinion that tournaments do this in ASA. ASA has a few things to address, doesn't look good when their was supposed be a tournament in Elk Grove to have a National Qualifier this weekend OFFERING 2 BIDS per age level, and they moved that tournament to the fall for what reason I do not know.

ASA is still king in the south ie Georgia Texas Mississippi Florida etc. I do think Chicago ASA needs to get some new guys in charge. You have to give way to the "young" guys. The old guys need to realize their time has past. Kind of like the politicians in Springfield.

Kind of like the politicians, old guys won't walk away when they keep getting their pockets lined with CASH. When you sign up for metros, who do you make the check out to? Enjoy your day!
