There will NOT be any changes for Certification Mark and Test Standard for all bats used in the game of ASA Fast Pitch Softball for the 2013 season.
The current 2000 and 2004 Certification Marks will continue to be the appropriate Marks for the Fast Pitch bats, and, as always, are available at ASASoftball.com.
Any new models produced by the manufacturers will continue to display the 2004 Certification Mark for bats used in the game of Fast Pitch Softball for ASA.
Thanks, Joe Pavone, Chicago ASA Junior Olympic Commissioner

Hey joe- any early talks about 14-u going back to 43 for a ball? Also what is this rumbling in Montgomery about having 14-u and 16-u gold next season

As with any potentially new legislation, I will not know until about 2 weeks before Annual Council meeting what has been proposed. I have learned not to make any guesses what will pop up.
PS. What does 'Montgomery' have to do with any of this?

Well at the coaches meeting an asa rep mentioned that they might move to the gold model at 14 and 16. Just wanted to know what insight you had boss man.

Well, the ASA Rep should probably learn to adhere to his/her responsibilities for that tournament, which are: 1. Welcome the Athletes, Coaches and Fans, and 2. Ensure that the ASA COde is being followed at every step of the way.
There's not ASA Rep 'duty' which says that you're supposed to look into a crystal ball, and try to determine what will happen in the future.

Would you be able to propose 43' at 14u?
Last year they stated it was never proposed so they had nothing to vote on.
It would at least be nice to get a vote on it.

I am not in favor of 43' at 14U. High School athletes should be playing AT 16U, no matter what their age. If they were worth a lick, their daddies and summer coaches would see that, and quit satisfying their own egos, while looking for the hardware.
Do you really want 7th and 8th graders (12 and 13 year olds) throwing from 43'?

Why not then propose to eliminate 14u and have a strictly 13u age group.
If the H.S. girls shouldn’t be playing 14u, what’s the purpose of having a 14u age group? Get rid of it.
Go 10U, 12U, 13U, 16U & 18U.
Is every H.S. girl in Sioux Falls (14U Nationals) right now there to satisfy their daddy’s ego or the coach’s ego?
Girls in the 7th & 8th grade are already throwing from 43’ all over the country. If some areas, ASA barely exists (or doesn’t) and some other alphabet organization dominates. They throw from 43’ at the 14u age group. They are surviving and thriving just fine.
I at least hope someone proposes 43’ for a vote. If it fails, fine, at least it was voted on. But the old crusty ASA mentality continues to let others chip away at their once dominate position in fastpitch softball.
