Congrats Bulls Sox 18 on great showing at Gold Nationals. Losing only to the champion and runner ups in close games. Way to go out in top!

Did the 14u Hawks leave a pitcher behind? Injuries?

Although many of the girls from the IL Force 18U Gold team are from southern Illinois, four of the girls were from Chicago suburbs and their team finished 9th at Gold Nationals out of 75 teams. Congrats girls! The Bulls-Sox and the IL Force did a great job of representing Illinois (and the midwest) against a lot of warm-weather teams.

The Chill are in a battle with the So Cal Athletics right now at PGF. The Athletics are the two-time defending Premier champs and has girls going to Stanford, Tennessee, Florida, and Arizona. Fecho's allowed only one hit through four and the Chill trail 1-0.

Chill lost a tough game 2 to 1 So Cal Athletics. The Beverly Bandits- Conroy are still in the winners bracket, down to the final eight and playing on streaming TV on the 7:15 PT game against Washington Lady Hawks tonight.

Why did most of the traditionally strong california/west coast organiations and teams stay away from the 18u ASA Nationals in Tennessee..?

There is a simple answer. PGF.
PGF has attracted the top level teams from ASA/USA National Tournaments, primarily locally in the California and surrounding area, and to a lesser extent nationally. PGF came to exist from a few organizations that were tired of ASA not listening when it came to some important rules and tournament hosting locations. They started three years ago with 18HS and 16U with mostly invites and promises to have the best teams / competition along with many top D1 college coaches watching. They have delivered on most of that promise.
They have since grew to include 14U and 12U divisions, however at those ages they are having a tougher time drawing teams from outside the SW area of the country. It is a little too much for the younger ages from the middle of USA to the atlantic. You also have most of the California teams at that age staying on the West coast to play PGF since it is close to home. Pretty much a split between the West coast and the rest of the nation.
