What is the most important thing to note going into this month of College Exposure...
Do you display all sets of skills? Do you try suicide bunts? Try hit and runs? How many innings do you throw your pitchers? Is their a value to trying to win the games?
I feel that everytime i present these questions i get a wide variety of answers. Some coaches say it is exposure you let your kids play freely basically. Others say it is important to have the game a little more structured to showcase certain skills.
I feel that exposure events are good, but as a coach i want to see how players perform under pressure. Combines are great, camps are great, exposures are great, but when the game is on the line in a real situation who can shine in that moment.
I find exposure events very similar to the NFL combine, sure they can showcase certain athletic attributes but that doesnt tell your everything about that player, doesnt show what type of hear and desire they have...
A blend of exposure and a tournament is nice, but the exposure events that do that have no bid or prize attached to winning. So as a coach do i risk throwing my pitcher 2 extra games to win a meaningless tournament?
Just some food for thought.
