I have been thinking... Is the nations best teams in travel softball solely based on the head coach/president shelling out money to make it happen, acquiring players from all over the country/region?
I propose a new rule that ASA AND PGF should adopt. It is a 50 mile rule. Each organization has to declare a "home field" and no player on that team/organization can reside 50 miles (radius) away from that "home field".
They currently do this for youth wrestling in Illinois to cut down on the "super" teams compiling of kids all across the state. It has been effective.
I truly believe this is something positive for the game and will rely more on team work, coaching, and building a program, opposed to picking up players that live sometimes several states away.
Just a thought...

There are some teams or girls that are 50 miles away from a home field, but it is very rare when compared to the number of teams/players. Not a big deal, would not start something like this.

There are many teams that have players over 50 miles way from where i know they practice. 50 radius miles is a very far distance too, not driving miles.
Teams with girls from 2-3 states away, what is the purpose? Just to trophy hunt? It isnt about developing players at that point...
It is Just an idea and i know it is very effective and beneficial for youth wrestling.
